Follow Your Passion or Find a Hobby

When do you find yourself in the kitchen or the pantry looking for something to munch? It is no coincidence that when you are bored or do not have an activity on which to focus, this is the time that food becomes the focus and you eat more than you actually need.

Watching television or reading magazines are both acceptable activities now and then during the day, but keep in mind that marketers know how to make you buy their food – they show it to you in the most appetizing way possible!

Get up, get moving, and get away from the image of the juicy hamburger with all the toppings.

What are you passionate about? What hobbies are you interested in outside of work? Losing weight can become consuming if you allow it to be the only focus in your life. Seriously, no one loses weight successfully if that is the only thing they think about on a day-to-day basis. Get busy doing something fun!

Volunteer at a local park or hospital. Try your hand at throwing pottery on a pottery wheel. Learn how to piece quilts. Take a basic carpentry class. Go hiking and take photographs of whatever you see. You get the general idea.

Focusing on things other than food, here is what naturally happens:

If you are spending less time in front of the television, you will not snack mindlessly
If you feel terrific about learning or participating in a new activity, you are going to eat less by default
If you are busier doing things you love to do, you won’t have the food cravings that drive you to eat when you’re not hungry

What does all that mean? You are going to lose weight!
